This collection of 9 short films created and directed by Colombian artists that reflect realities and fictions, common imaginary and subjectivities, dares to delineate the National Audiovisual Experimental Vanguardia 2023. A collection that, through technical, aesthetic and narrative multiplicity, delivers a very strong sensorial experience. 84 minutes of displacement between hybrid categories such as anti-racist sublime animation, animal mystical terror, the surrealism of violence, digital cosmogonic contemplation, or the documentary of environmental memory -among others. We present then, with this program that is as poetic and radical as political, the highlight of Colombian experimental cinema that is projected to the entire world.

The emphasis of this selection is located in the experimentation of the audiovisual archive as a plastic matter, combined with other much more abstract films and even developed with the use of software, animation and collage, building possible universes that emerge from the unconscious. In this way, the public can identify the balance and reflection of these proposals, around the use of audiovisual media aimed at work with the materiality of images and sounds

Slide the look to contemplate/imagine the representations of the world that these creators give us through their audiovisual practice, we suggest with this series of experiments that have been highlighted by our curatorial team. The series runs between various imaginary that present reflections on the political and spiritual as well as the natural and the artificial; and that simultaneously experience with technology, technologies, montages and languages. Together, these works dialogue around the technological and plastic becoming in contemporary audiovisual production and their impact on the viewer.

Here are audiovisual expressions that transcend for their relationship between the argumentative, the documentary and performatic, as for their creative drifts located in the audiovisual writings. It is operated from the intimate place to deploy thus, ideas in terms of human relations, family inheritance, identities, the meaning of the body, the past and political present of societies, as well as the instances where the point of view operates, The observation and research processes and multidisciplinary creation.

Here seven speeches are presented that put the viewer elsewhere. On the one hand are the films that combine the biographical in relation to a context determined by war, pandemic, graffiti art or the history of a music group. On the other hand are the films that come from chance, improvisation and why not, technical help, which allows things to be felt otherwise. This selection believes in a type of cinema that confronts the passive spectator, to take it to the art of the sensitive, the perceptual and emotional at the same time, because the movies are open to absolute enjoyment by appreciating audiovisual art from other places of experience, either from the film or outdoor room, from a virtual environment or linked to an “live” act.
